FORMER Chester City FC director Paul Baker is expected to be announced as one of the new owners of League Two club AFC Bournemouth today.
Speculation has been mounting for the past week about Mr Baker's involvement with Alastair Saverimutto of sports marketing firm Sport-6. Mr Baker and his business partner, the newly-appointed chief executive Mr Saverimutto are understood to have join
ed forces with Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly and struck a deal to take AFC Bournemouth, known as the Cherries, out of administration.

Their appointments are likely to be confirmed during a lunchtime press conference at the Cherries home ground, Dean Court.

Mr Baker, who lives in Hawarden and whose business is based in Sandycroft, Deeside, spoke to the Evening Leader yesterday and confirmed an announcement was due in the next 24-48 hours.

He said: "I want it to come out correctly.

"There may well be something to say but I'm not going to confirm or deny anything.

"All I can say it I'm away on business, for UK Sameday and Sport 6 in Slough, and I won't be getting into Chester until Friday."

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the club announced Mr Mostyn was set to 'reveal exciting news regarding the takeover of AFC Bournemouth' at the press conference.

The statement added that current chairman Mr Mostyn and vice-chairman Mr Sly 'will be introducing the new directors to the press and outlining future plans' for the club.

Mr Baker, who stepped down as director at the end of last season, put in an offer for the club last year which was rejected by Stephen Vaughan.
