FIFTY jobs are to be created at a new £2.6 million nightclub in Chester.
The club, called Cruise, is now under construction at the site of the former Lloyds TSB Bank at St John Street and is due to open by the end of April.

Planning permission for the club was granted in April but work was due to start in the summer but was delayed until January.

Odysian Ltd, the company behind the club, has contracted Poole Estates Group to carry out the work, which is expected to take about 14 weeks.
Club manager Lenny Cunningham said: "Cruise will create 50 new and part time jobs. There will be a range of new jobs including bar staff, bar supervisors, receptionists, cloak room attendants and administration workers."

City and St Anne's Cllr Gwyn Cooper said: "Anything that is going to create more jobs in Chester is a good thing.

"The hospitality sector is one of the growing areas of employment in the area with the creation of the Ibis hotel on Grosvenor Park Road and a new hotel in Forest Street.

"There is also a planning application for a Travelodge at the back of Delamere Street."

John Street will also feature a Pitcher and Piano, Pizza Express and Cape wine bar.

Mr Cunningham added: "There has been a phenomenal response in the last few months for memberships, corporate parties and bookings."

Cruise will have a capacity of 1,550 and there will be six themed rooms. Nick Harding, operations director, said: "Cruise will take guests on a voyage of discovery with six very distinct themed experiences. The Cruise experience departs from the reception and bar area 'Cool Britannia' and from there guests can head to the bars at Puerto Banus, Bangkok or Moskva, or dance the night away in Svenska or Manhattan.
