A MAN accused of exposing himself to two young girls in a Chester park has appeared in court.
Stephen Edward Birch, 43, of Grange Road, Chester, denies exposing himself on February 17.

Chester Crown Court heard that Birch allegedly rode his bicycle around Lime Wood park in Kingsway, Newton, before approaching the young girls and exposing h
imself.

Nicholas Williams, prosecuting, said: "At about 4.45pm two girls, aged nine and 10, were playing in Lime Wood park in Kingsway.

"Their fathers were parked nearby keeping an eye on their daughters.

"The girls noticed a man was cycling around and passed them a number of times on the path quite close.

"This man was wearing a woollen beanie hat and a yellow high-visibility jacket with silver stripes.

"He pulled up to them and got off his bike and the 10-year-old thought he was going to ask for directions."

Mr Williams told the court Birch then exposed himself to the girls before cycling off.

The girls then ran back to their fathers, he said.

Birch was arrested three days later on February 20.

The 10-year-old girl gave evidence to the court via a video link.

She said she went to the park with her friend, and that they were playing on their electric scooters.

She said: "He came in front of me and I thought he was going to ask for directions.

"He was a bit panicky and in a bit of a rush."

The girl explained she had been left really upse' by the incident.

The case continues, and is expected to finish tomorrow.
