Blacon Youth Football Team get new kit
BLACON Youth Football Team received welcome support from Manchester and District Housing Association in the form of a new football kit which players used for the first time at a Lancashire tournament.
The team, which is run by two of Manchester and District's residents, won their league at the Blackpool event, scoring 22 goals in six games, but were knocked out at the quarter-final stage in a penalty shoot-out.
Chester City Council's Blacon Area Committee donated £780 to the club to pay for entry to the tournament, and a further £380 has been allocated for use by under sevens.
Amanda Jones, neighbourhood regeneration officer at M&D, a Harvest Housing Group member, said: "When I heard from our residents that the youth team was in need of a new kit I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show our support.
"We are thrilled that the team performed so well at the tournament and wish them all the best for the future."
