MATCH REPORT: Chester 0 Rotherham 1

The Chester City boss pinpointed his side's needs after their 1-0 home league defeat against second placed Rotherham United.

It was Chester's sixth defeat in seven games, and Williamson said: "I feel we just need a break in front of goal. We just need someone with a bit of desire who wants to get on the end of something and put it in the back of the net for us.

"I'm sure that if we can get that then it will all come flooding back to us.

"We've got to continue to work hard and stick together, but I can't fault my guys for effort because I feel they are all working as hard as they can do.

"Some of our confidence has dropped and that leads to a lack of ability at times, because when we were creating chances at the start of the season we were taking them. We don't look as if we're creating chances now.

"There isn't much quality going into the box and that's disappointing because we've got the same guys in the side that were with us at the start of the season, so I'm just hoping they can recover their form and that they get a break sooner rather than later."

Williamson admitted he was now looking for his wingers, Richie Partridge and Kevin Ellison, to rediscover the form that reaped City a string of impressive performances earlier in the season and added: "We can't get a goal for love nor money at the moment.

"But we're not creating much and that's the biggest disappointment.
"We really need the wide guys, the guys who supply the ammunition, to hit a vein of form because I do feel as if we've lost a bit in those areas.

"I'm hoping we can re-ignite the form from those wide areas sooner rather than later."

Williamson revealed that Blues keeper John Danby had slipped when Chris O'Grady scored Rotherham's winning goal.

He said: "John Danby slipped on his right as Chris O'Grady hit the ball with his left, and the ball bobbled over John's hands.

"That's a big factor because at the start of the season John would have saved that and he was making crucial saves for us and we were winning games.

"Unfortunately now we're not scoring goals and any mistake at all is being punished. It's hard for us to take at times, but the only way to get around it is to keep working hard and keep believing, and hoping that our fans stand behind us and encourage us all the way."

Making reference to striker John Murphy's return to the side after he had been sidelined with a knee injury, Williamson said: "John won a lot of headers, but unfortunately we didn't have the personnel with him to get on the end of things and we need to work a bit harder on that.

"I don't want to see us being a back to front team with big high balls to get us out of trouble. I want to see John Murphy winning flick ons, but players with him have got to read his mind and see which way the ball will go.

"I want to see us still playing the type of football we played at the start of the season by getting the ball wide and our midfield players getting on the ball and feeding the ball through.

"If we can get back to that type of form then I feel there's nothing separating any team in this league.

"Rotherham are up near the top of the table on merit, yet I felt we were every bit as good as them, if not better at times."
