The Chester City boss watched his side suffer a miserable 1-0 home league defeat against Notts County.

It was the Blues 12th consecutive game without a win – a run which stretches back to a 2-1 home victory against Bury on December 22.

He said: "We're just not getting the bounce of the ball, but I keep saying to the lads that they have got to keep believing that the bounce will come their way if they keep working hard for one another.

"We've got to keep doing that because it's the only way we can get through a period like this with a run of defeats.

"I've experienced it before as a manager and I'll experience it again – that's for sure.

"It's not great when everything is going against you."

And Williamson believed his side should have been awarded a penalty in the second half, adding: "We felt we should have had a penalty when Chris Holroyd went through because their player caught him just as he was about to get his shot away.

"The referee said later that he got his shot away and then the player caught him, but that doesn't cut any ice with me because I felt it was a chance for us to get back in the game, but we never got that decision.

"When decisions are going against you and the bounce of the ball is not going your way it's always uphill."

Williamson admitted that his side had not done enough, but insisted that Chester didn't deserve to lose the match.

He added: "I was disappointed because we didn't trouble them (Notts County) enough and we didn't create enough goalscoring opportunities and we got caught.

"I don't think we deserved to lose the game, but we never did enough to win it.

"When you look at their goal, their boy has miss-kicked it and it flies out wide, and then they get a decent ball into the box and it's cost us because their guy has had the desire to get on the end of it.

"I'm bitterly disappointed with the result, but we've just got to lift our heads and get on with it."

Williamson wants his players to start expressing themselves and putting their nerves to one side.

He added: "I thought Saturday's match was a very nervy affair, but I don't understand football players who get nervous about a game of football. They've just got to go out and express themselves, play the game, show for the ball, pass and try and make things happen in the last third.

"Yet they get nervous for one reason or another. Whether it's media pressure or fan pressure I don't know, but it's something they've got to handle.

"If they want to be top players they've got to be able to deal with that. Unfortunately, we didn't deal with that on Saturday."

Williamson revealed that midfielder Kevin Ellison was rested after picking up a hamstring injury on Wednesday while training, and that Laurence Wilson was substituted after picking up a foot injury.

- Chester's scheduled league match at Darlington tomorrow night, will kick off at 7.30pm.
