"If we can start a run right now and keep winning games then we won't be far away from the play-off positions and that's the aim.
"People have been talking about survival and all that nonsense. The side hasn't changed much from the start of the season – the only problem has been that the pitches have been heavy and the training facilities have deteriorated, but we're back on track now.
"I've got great belief in the guys and if they keep working hard and keep responding then they will win football matches."
John Murphy netted City's equaliser to earn his side a share of the spoils after Spireites' leading marksman, Jack Lester, had given the home club a 54th minute lead.
Williamson said: "We were disappointed to concede a goal in the manner we did, but the response from the players was tremendous.
"Usually we concede a goal early in a match and that demoralises us, and we've been missing a few big, experienced players in our team, but they're coming back, and once we get them all back we'll start winning more games.
"I'm proud of the guys. They had worked hard all week – it was good to see Tony Dinning back, and to see Tony Grant get another game under his belt.
"It was also pleasing to see Mark Hughes and Kevin Roberts working so hard in the centre of the park – I felt we looked solid.
"It was also pleasing to hear our fans getting behind the players for the whole match, even when we went a goal down they still got behind us. I knew the lads wouldn't let them down and they didn't by getting back into the game, but it perhaps would have been hard on Chesterfield if we had won."
Williamson praised his front two of John Murphy and Craig Lindfield, adding: "John Murphy played well again and Craig Lindfield's workrate was tremendous – he'll get himself goals because he works hard, and I'm a great believer that if you work hard you'll get your just rewards."
Williamson revealed that he was forced to replace centre back Paul Linwood after 34 minutes because the defender had suffered a recurrence of a groin injury.
