A RACE night in aid of the city’s cash-strapped football club turned out to be a sure-fire winner.
The fundraising evening, at the Red Lion pub in Handbridge, raised £2,000 for Chester FC. The Blues have fallen into financial difficulties and - since news of the crisis broke in January - supporters have been doing their bit to help raise vital cash. Red Lion licensee Nick Stark said: “ I would encourage other publicans in Chester to put on a race night. It was great to have so many Chester fans in the pub, they are so passionate about the club, it was a great night.”
Fans were joined on the night by Blues legends Gary Talbot and Alan Tarbuck.
