Former Chester duo Antoni Sarcevic and Elliott Durrell have been selected in the Northern Premier League’s Greatest Team, to commemorate 50 years of the division.

Sarcevic, 26, joined the reformed Chester FC on-loan in 2010 in Northern Premier Division One and impressed during a short spell before returning to parent club Crewe Alex.

Twelve months later he signed permanently for the Blues and was part of Neil Young’s Northern Premier League Premier Division title winners of 2011-12 and the side who went on to claim the Conference North title in 2012-13, which led to a move to Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.

Durrell, who has played for both Chester and Wrexham during his non-league career, makes the bench owing to his prolific spell with Hednesford Town in the Northern Premier from 2012-14, scoring 58 times in just 95 appearances.

The 28-year-old joined Wrexham in 2014 but left a year later for Tamworth. After recovering his form he signed for Chester in June 2016 but, after a fine season where he scored eight times in 42 appearances, was surprisingly released and snapped up by Macclesfield Town, where he is set to gain promotion to the Football League.

Former Wrexham striker Lee Trundle also makes the bench.

The starting XI includes famous names such as West Brom defender Craig Dawson, former Norwich striker Grant Holt and Leicester City and England international Jamie Vardy, who made his name in the Northern Premier with Stocksbridge Park Steels.
