PAUL CARDEN hailed his "outstanding" Warrington Town as they upset higher league Telford United to reach the fourth qualifying round for only the third time in their history.

Goals from Bohan Dixon an Ben Garrity handed the Yellows, who featured ex-Wrexham trio Rob Evans, Jack Mackreth and David Raven, as well as former Chester duo Tony Gray and Luke George, control of proceedings.

Ex-Chester loan striker Daniel Udoh pulled a goal back late on, but Carden's men held firm to book a place in the next round.

The former Chester captain said: "It’s up there with our best displays of the season.

“To a man, we were outstanding at both ends of the pitch.

“We supported each other, made blocks and there was no question about who deserved the win.

“You can see there is a fit, strong organised bunch of lads here.

“Whatever changes we make, they understand what is needed and they all back each other.

“They are running through brick walls for each other and they know everyone at the club is behind them.”

Former Chester boss Neil Young also pulled off a cup upset as Marine defeated Kevin Wilkin's Brackley 3-2.

Young, who saw his side race into a 3-0 lead, said: "I would just like to thank all the fans that travelled to the game for their magnificent support, all the staff and players really appreciate it.

"A special mention must go to all the supporters behind the goal who never stopped singing from the minute they entered the ground until after the final whistle."

Ex-Wrexham manager Wilkin was brutally honest about his side's display.

“The way we played in the first half and the attitude we showed from the outset was really poor," he said. "It is one thing being confident and another being arrogant and I thought we were in the first half.

"It’s a strong word to use but credit to Marine because they were sharper than us, they made better decisions, their finishing was sharper.”

National League North quartet Stockport, Chorley, York and Southport are all safely through, while Billericay thrashed Whitehawk 9-1.
